Yashi Davalos (Yashira Lopez Davalos) b.1995, is an emerging artist and curator. Her upbringing as an Afro Latinx Atlanta native transcends her relationship between the south and global south in her worldview of humanity vs. regional identity. As an experimental lens based artist she explores the social intersections of photo realism and archiving with gender fluid aesthetic value, mobilizing the self and the collective. Yashira’s objective as a curator is to build conversations of culture around perceiving hyper-capitalist focus on tokenism vs. non-monolithic aspects of identity. Her past curations include Echolocation: Industrialized Persona, Past Present and Afro-Futurism at The Front Gallery, and serving as the Gallery Curator for The Front's Donde Se Despierta Mi Risa Latinx Group Exhibition. Yashi is currently a guest curator at Nikki Gallery in Arabi, LA. Her art has also been exhibited throughout New Orleans, at Plug Gallery in KCMO, Mint Gallery ATL, and In Partnership with Elevate ATL for Atlanta Art Week.
