BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF A FRONT MEMBERSHIP

A membership at The Front has many advantages, but also entails a commitment to fostering community and advancing the goals of our collective. Duties at The Front usually average about 10 hours a month outside of install and deinstall hours. (Members have autonomy in choosing their gallery sitting + bartending shifts; depending on individual scheduling of those shifts along with fluctuating committee + gallery job requirements, this can be less than 10 hours some months and up to 20 hours other months).

Duties include:

  • $90 per month in dues.* This covers the majority of rent, utilities, and other expenses associated with running the space.
*There is room in the application to express whether the fee is a barrier for you.

  • Fundraising is an important part of being a member, while there is a committee that specifically organizes and devises plans for this, it is all of our responsibilities’ to participate in these efforts. (This may include additional bartending shifts).

  • Commitment to the gallery for 24 months.

  • Attendance at the monthly group meeting.

  • Each member is required to participate in at least one committee (ex: grant-writing committee, gallery exchange committee, and good-times committee). The committees meet on an fluctuant-basis depending on that committee’s role in The Front.

  • Taking on a gallery job (ex: website and instagram manager, yard-tender, email-checker, secretary, treasurer, beer buyer, e-blast sender, etc.).

  • Gallery sitting an estimated 12 times over the course of the two year lease, Saturday or Sunday, 12-5 pm.

  • Bartending during openings. This amounts to roughly 5 bartending shifts a year.

  • Members must reside within the greater New Orleans area. Art student applicants must graduate by December 31st, 2024.
