Potential, a collection of work by Jessica Vogel, that investigates intentionality through the perspective of material. Specifically focusing on the supporting role of the pedestal, other gallery centric mediums, and the convenient capabilities of faux. Potential, shows an object’s desire to become something else revealing the awkward and often humorous nature of its inherent qualities.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana Jessica Vogel received her BFA in fine art at Wake Forest University and her Masters Degree in Sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art and Design She creates narratives for her sculptures using a visual grammar and her shapes and forms explores the balance between discomfort and beauty.

looking back - moving forward
This show is a collection of work I have made over the past few years. After having created art in several different mediums, I wanted to step back and reflect before moving forward with creating new work. I have not been working in the mediums shown here for at least 2 years now. My most recent work investigates the way that technology, art, and people interact; my interest lies specifically in the interaction that takes place when I connect these three elements together. As an artist and designer I am focused on the interaction between viewer and piece, and the relationship that forms when the viewer takes time to investigate how their presence is altering the piece.
I hope to get feedback or see something new in these old works that will help me move forward with creating new art, whether it be traditional, digital, or some blending thereof.
H. Cole Wiley has BFA in Sculpture with a minor in Digital Art and Computer Science from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. He currently lives and works in New Orleans as software/web developer. Additionally he is the founder of Makers of NO, a weekly meet-up for makers in the New Orleans area. H. Cole has been studying both sculpture and programming since 2004; getting started in sculpture with welding abstract forms and programming with Java. Over this time these two separate practices have grown independently; however, starting in 2010 the art and the code began melding themselves together.
