bio

Patch Somerville was born in Sodus, New York in 1985. He received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2008 and his MFA from Tulane University in 2015. Somerville has been awarded fellowships to attend the Vermont Studio Center, the Alfred and Trafford Klots International Artist Program, and the Ox-Bow Artist Residency. He has received a Career Advancement Grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts and is a three-time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant. Somerville’s work was recently featured in New American Paintings. Patch Somerville lives and works in New Orleans, where he is a member of the collective gallery The Front.
